  Mrs. Mary Lois Owens Cain 

Peacefully, Friday evening, March 24, 2006, Mrs. Mary Lois Owens Cain, of 2133 Gerald Street, departed this life at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice and Palliative CareCenter. She was born in Anderson, SC on August 21, 1924 to Jessie Marie Owens Williams and Claude Owens.
She was a graduate of Atkins High School and attended Winston-Salem Teacher’s College. She was a lifetime member of New Bethel Baptist Church and served in many capacities including church clerk and editor of the Spotlight Newspaper. She was also a member of the Slater Park Community Club and the Skyland Senior Citizens Club. She was employed at Bobbitt’s Pharmacy and retired from ARA Food Service with more than 32 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Norma C. Jones; a sister, Anna B. Kimber; and a great grandson, Christopher D. Bailey, Jr. Survivors include the husband, William Henry Cain, Jr.; six children, Ruby O. Cain, Randell A. Cain, Sr. (Sharon), Gloria C. King (Willie) and William H. Cain III of Winston-Salem, NC, Margaret C. Bailey (Johnnie) of Greensboro, NC and Malcolm E. Cain (Carolyn) of Catonsville, Md.; she is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Gregory C. Cain, Tonjua L. King, Michael D. Jones, Sr., Randell A. Cain, Jr. (Cynthia), Kimberly J. Barr (Anthony), Twanna L. King, Leia D. Cain, Ashleigh M. Cain, Tashika M. Lopez, Christopher D. Bailey, Mark K. Bailey, and Phillip M. Bailey; other survivors include 11 great-grandchildren and three great, great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Hattie Jeter (Coleman), Mary Shields (Theodore), and Hazel Lyerly; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Friday, March 31, 2006 at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1016 N. Trade Street. Family visitation will be held from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm Friday at the church.
Memorial and contributions may be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC and Senior Services, Winston-Salem, NC.
