Gerald J. Cession, 68, was born to the late Henry Lee Cession and Birdell William Cession on September 11, 1957, in Akron, Ohio. He departed this life and entered into eternal rest peacefully on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in Winston-Salem, NC. Gerald was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and was a graduate of Parkland High School.
Gerald shared his life with his beloved wife, Karen Easterly Cession whom he married on June 27, 1981. Their union was a testament of enduring love, spanning 45 years together. Karen was not only his wife and soulmate, but his best friend and caretaker to the very end.
He was a hardworking man that believed in providing for his family. He worked in warehousing for more than 50 years. There wasn’t anything that he couldn’t tell you about warehousing and 3rd Party Logistic; his brain was wired for it. When not working he would watch HGTV and The Food Network Channel. He could cook up a storm in the kitchen, and actually his wife will tell you that he taught her everything she knows about cooking. He loved listening to The Temptations, Whitney Houston, Dennis Edwards and Teddy Pendergrass. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Duke Blue Devils. He was of the Baptist Faith and a member of Antioch Baptist Church, Winston-Salem.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Wesley Mungin, Christopher Mungin, Elouise Mungin, and Rosella Mungin.
Those left to cherish his memories are his devoted wife of 45 years, Karen Easterly Cession of their home; a son, Anthony “Tony” Cession; a daughter, E'laina “Butters” Barron; his son-in-love, Larry Barron, Jr.; his four grandchildren who bought lot of love and happiness when they were around, Emery Barron, Jurni Barron, Saint Barron, and Lyriq Barron; his siblings, Edward Lee (Beverly) Cession, Charles (Cynthia) Cession, Amelia Wilkins, Dennis Cession, William (Betty) Faust, and Rosalind (Mark) Tyler; an aunt, Mrs. Rosabelle Palmer; parents-in-love, Reverend Albert & Helen Easterly; siblings-in-love, Albert (Alethea) Easterly, Derek Easterly, Cheryl “Denise” (Bishop Dennis) Clodfelter, and Denise Easterly; a “Special Mother-in-Love”, Marjorie Wallace; his Godchildren; and a host of extended family members, and close friends who will forever hold him in their heart.
Gerald was a one-of-a-kind Gem! Those we love don’t go away
They walk beside us every day, Unseen, unheard, but always near
Still loved, still missed and very dear
