Obituary

Deborah Whitlock Jackson was born on October 22, 1945, to her late parents, Eva Mae Woods Harris and Frank Harris. A native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, she graduated from Anderson High School in 1964 with her one-year-old son in hand, Bobby Jackson Sr.

After graduation, she married Richard Jackson and moved to San Antonio, Texas. She later welcomed her youngest son, Charles Anthony Jackson. Deborah’s heavenly calling came on the morning of Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

Deborah brought her talents back to Winston-Salem to be closer to her family and moved onto Woodcot Street, later making her beloved home on Tise Avenue. She became a faithful member of Goler Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church, where she worshiped alongside her family.

Deborah was a headstrong, free-spirited, funny, and light-hearted woman who loved deeply. She was charismatic, generous, and giving until her very last day.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Harris; sisters, Wanetta Bell and Arnethia Coplin; and her daughter-in-law, Princetta Jackson.

Surviving family members include her two loving sons, Bobby Jackson, Sr. (Rosaland) of Nokesville, Virginia and Charles Anthony Jackson of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Chassidy Robinson (Cameron), Chontaye Jackson, Tequlia Jackson, and Bobby Jackson, Jr. (Adrianna); her great-grandchildren, Jaylen Russell, Cameron, Jr., and Cayven Robinson; she is lovingly remembered by her cousin, Dr. Cecelia Jeffries and Dorothy Moton-who were affectionately known as sisters; her devoted partner of over 30 years, Floyd Harvey; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Monday, May 11, 2026 at Russell Funeral Home.

Combined funeral services with her sister, Arnethia Coplin, will be held at 12noon Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church. Entombment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Tuesday at the Church.
