Mr.
John Rufus Smith, 91, of the Springwood
Care Facility of Forsyth and formerly of
2704 Rosemary Drive
, departed this life on Friday, October 14, 2005 at
Forsyth
Medical
Center
. He was born in
Reidsville
,
NC
on March 9, 1914. His mother, father and brother preceded him in death.
He was the widower of Mrs. Jessie Adams Smith. He loved his family and
was a very good provider. He was witty and full of humor.
Dr.
H. Rembert Malloy (now deceased) was inspirational in our dad joining
United
Metropolitan
Missionary
Baptist
Church
where he became a faithful member. He loved to attend Sunday School (
Church
School
).
He
leaves to cherish his memories, six children; Shirley S. Rogers (Joe),
Thomas A. Smith, Sr. (Mary), Richard E. Smith, Sr. (Edna), Connie S.
Davis, Linda S. Lash (Wayne, Sr.) and Charlzetta S. Mullins (Wesley);
thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren and two great,
great grandchildren; a niece, Betty R. Parker; a sister-in-law,
Rebecca Ellington.
Funeral
services will be held at Noon Thursday, October 20, 2005 at
United
Metropolitan
Missionary
Baptist
Church
with the Reverend Prince Raney Rivers officiating. Interment will follow
in the
Evergreen
Cemetery
. The family visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until Noon on Thursday
at the Church.

rendered to our dad for four years, Springwood Nursing Care Center and
staff for their care for the last two years and to Forsyth Medical
Center and Dr. Chirapa Sinthusek for their care.”
