Dr.  Wanda Mitchell Peterson

Dr. Wanda Mitchell Peterson, 49, of 22 Arita Circle went to her heavenly reward Sunday, November 20, 2005 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born on August 28, 1956 in Ahoskie, NC, the daughter of Cleveland and Doris W. Mitchell.
Wanda was a graduate of Bertie Senior High School, Class of 1974, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, NC, Class of 1978 and received her Doctorate of Medicine from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC, School of Medicine, Class of 1983. Wanda owned and operated two private medical practices; one located in Yadkinville, NC and the other located in Winston-Salem, NC. She became a member of the United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Doris W. Mitchell, two brothers, Joe and Cleveland, Earl Mitchell.
Memories of Wanda will be cherished by her husband, Gregory, Sr.; two daughters, Carla Lynn and Andrea Leigh; one son, Gregory, Jr., all of Winston-Salem,; her father, Cleveland Mitchell of Ahoskie, NC; sisters, Etta Mitchell of Plymouth, NC, Brenda (Charles) Hills of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and Vernice Yvette Coley of Asheboro, NC; brothers, Bernard (Lovie) Mitchell, Sr. of Wilson, NC, Roland Levi Mitchell of Greensboro, NC, Larry (Bertha) Mitchell of Ahoskie, NC, Victor Mitchell of Washington, DC, Michael (Francine) Mitchell of Winston-Salem, NC, and William (Sonya) Mitchell of Charlotte, NC; two aunts, Evelyn Mitchell of Ahoskie, NC and Annie Roulhac of Cofield, NC; a goddaughter, Dokota Boston of Winston-Salem, NC; and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives, friends and many patients.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 25, 2005 at United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Prince Raney Rivers officiating. The family visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
The family requested that in lieu of flowers c/o State Employees Credit Union.
