On March 13, 2012, after an extended illness, God sent his angels to bring his soldier home. Zodie Lee Williams was born on February 15, 1939 to the late Carrie Williams Watkins and Tommy Johnson. He was a native of Winston-Salem and a graduate of Atkins High School.
He married the love of his life, Helen Lewis on June 22, 1968; two children came from this union. Zodie retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company where he worked in research and development for over twenty-five years. Zodie was a quiet, soft spoken, and kind hearted man. He enjoyed all sports but his love was golf.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Fred Watkins; grandmother, Mable Williams; uncle, Millz Williams; father-in-law, Henry Lewis; and mother-in-law, Ruth Lewis.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories his wife, Helen L. Williams of the home; son, Gregory Williams of the home; daughter, Tambra Williams of W-S, NC; sister, Decie (Alton) Gunn of Detroit, MI; niece, Karen (Reginald) Dozier of Detroit, MI; nephew, Alton Gunn, Jr. of Detroit, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Shiloh Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 1pm until 1:30pm on Tuesday at the Church.
