Ms. Zilla Brown died Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Huntersville Oaks Nursing Home in Huntersville, NC. She was born to the union of Stephen and Lula McGregor on October 10, 1910 in Thomasville, GA. She completed her elementary and high school education in the Thomasville Public Schools.
Ms. Brown was united in matrimony to Rev. Robert L. Brown who was the former pastor of several churches in the Winston-Salem community, who preceded her in death. They were the parents of Bobbie Harrison of Charlotte, NC and Robert L. Brown, Jr. of Winston-Salem, NC. She also leaves three grandchildren, Leslie Harrison of Brooklyn, NY, Kevin Harrison of Boston, MA and Ahmed Harrison of Tampa Fl.
She was a faithful member of St. John CME Church where she was an active member of the Missionary Society. Ms. Brown's education included a diploma from The Georgia Normal and Agricultural College and a Masters of Education degree from Allen University in Columbia, SC. She retired from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System where she taught at Skyland Elementary School.
Funeral services will be held 12noon Thursday, October 14, 2010 at St. John CME Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon Thursday at the church.
