Mrs. Zelner "Peewee" Miller of 7810 Cherry St. passed away on Sunday June 1, 2014. She was born June 10, 1923 to the late Maggie and Riley Miller. She was married for 54 years to the late Ernest R Miller Jr.
Zelner was a graduate of Carver High School Class of 1942. After graduating she attended McLain Business College. She was a life-long, dedicated member of St. James United Methodist Church. Mrs. Miller served many roles during her lifetime. She is a former church secretary, Sunday school teacher, Annual Conference delegate, choir member and former President of the United Methodist Women. She also served as the head of the Communion Stewards. Most recently she served as head of the Nurture and Outreach committee.
She was also active in many civic organizations. Mrs. Miller along with her sister started the summer lunch program in Rural Hall. Mrs. Miller was the head of the 4H club in Rural Hall. She was a member of the Rose McCloud Chapter 608 Order of Eastern Star, National Women of Achievement and a board member of The Life Span Center.
Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her loving husband Ernest R Miller Jr. 7 brothers and 7 sisters.
Mrs. Miller leaves to cherish her memory her children, Deborah Miller Jackson of the home, David (Laurie) Miller of Jamestown NC, Barry and Darrell Blue; a special young friend, Alissa Young; her devoted nieces that helped in her care, Alice Jean Allen and Verlie McNeill; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm Friday, June 6, 2014 at St. James UMC 165 Hwy 65 Rural Hall, NC. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park Rural Hall, NC. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1:30pm on Friday at the Church.
The family will assemble and leave from the home at 7810 Cherry Street Rural Hall, NC.
