Obituary

Yvonne “Von” Elizabeth Horne Martin was born on September 7, 1945, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to the late James and Eloise Smith Horne. She peacefully departed this life on February 28, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones at the Post Acute Care Center in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, James and Eloise Smith Horne; and her two brothers, James Horne and Sherman Horne.

Von will be remembered as a woman of unwavering faith, integrity, and quiet strength. She possessed a gentle spirit and a loving heart that touched all who knew her. She was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System and graduated from Paisley High School. She later earned certification from McLean’s Business School. Von dedicated over 15 years of service to Western Electric Company and later retired from Deluxe Checks in Greensboro, North Carolina. A devoted woman of faith, Von was a faithful member of First Assembly of God Church in Winston-Salem. After relocating to Rock Hill, she continued serving and worshiping faithfully until the onset of her illness.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Kevin (Ola) Martin and Kina Martin; her siblings, Rickey -Horne and Deborah (Tony) Grace; sister-in-law, Hilda Jean Foster (Bernard); her beloved grandchildren, Sinclair Martin (Sheridan), Sterling Martin (Siobhan), Edwin L. Caldwell IV (Rebecca), and Candice Moffitt (Warren); her great-grandchildren, Alexia, Hunter, Genesis, Win, and Rory; a host of nieces and nephews including Toni (Kevin) Douglas, Bernie Foster, and Shanna Foster; along with many extended family members and dear friends.

Her legacy of love, faith, and devotion will continue to live on through the generations she so deeply cherished.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Thursday, March 5, 2026 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:00am on Thursday at the Chapel.
