Y'Dencia Laverne Parks, affectionately known as "YD," was born in Winston-Salem, NC on December 2, 1955 to Doretha P. Jackson. She received her angel wings and went on to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, October 24, 2008.
Y'Dencia was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and was a 1974 graduate of East Forsyth High School. She was an employee of Sara Lee/Hanesbrand for over 30 years, but her true passion in life was sewing and doing alterations. Y'Dencia was a faithful member of her church, being a former member of Kimberly Park and Mercy Seat Holiness churches. She currently attended Greater Cleveland Avenue Christian Church where she participated in the Singles' Ministry, the Women's Choir, the Pastor's Aid, and the Women of Purpose.
Y'Dencia leaves to cherish her precious memories, one devoted daughter, Tashika "Peaches" Parks, of Winston-Salem, NC; five brothers, Dwight (Kelli) Parks, of Augusta, GA, Humphrey Parks, Alfred (Theressa) Parks, Dedric Keaton, and Thaddeus Jackson all of Winston-Salem, NC; one half-sister, Arlene (Larry) Peebles; two nephews, Chris and Carlos; six nieces, Michelle, Tilia, Brittney, Victoria, Courtney, and Danielle; a special uncle and aunt, Charlie and Adele Fair, and a host of loving aunts, uncles, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 1 pm Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at the Great Cleveland Avenue Christian Church with Bishop Sheldon M. McCarter officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 12 Noon pm until 1 pm Wednesday at the church.
