Woodrow Wilson Harris, Jr., of Winston Salem, NC, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022. Woodrow was born November 5, 1952, to the late Elder Woodrow Wilson Harris, Sr. and Eva Woods Harris in Winston-Salem, NC. He was the eighth child of ten and was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School District. He graduated from Atkins High School Class of 1971 and Forsyth Technical Community College. He retired from Novant Health, Inc. after 32 years of service as a Respiratory Therapist and Cardiopulmonary Laboratory Technologist Educator. He was affectionately known as "Woodrow", "Wood", "Woody", "WW", and "Unc."
Along with his parents, Woodrow was preceded in death by his daughter, Coffey Michelle Sparks; and three siblings, Apostle J.A. Harris Sr., Luzelle Barber, and Fennell Lee "Billy" Harris, Sr.
He leaves to mourn, one son, Rashad Kendall of Portland, OR; three sisters, Mary Roberts, Joann Hargro, and Ruby Hawkins all of Winston-Salem, NC; three brothers, Charles E. Harris, Sr. of Highland, CA, Timothy Harris, Sr. of Winston-Salem, NC, and David Harris (Margaret) of Indian Trial, NC; two grandsons, Edward A. "EJ" Sparks, Jr. and Harrison A. Sparks; a son-in-law, Edward A. Sparks, Sr. all of Atlanta, GA; a sister-in-law, Vermel Harris; a Godbrother, Elder Romanuel Artis of Charlotte, NC; two aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was a faithful member of the United House of Prayer for All People his entire lifetime. He served on the Usher and Deacon boards, was a former Assistant Vice President of Auxiliaries, overseer of cafeteria, and doorkeeper. He loved his family, friends, and church family.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Friday, October 7, 2022 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Saturday, October 8, 2022 at the United House of Prayer for All People, 2501 Ivy Avenue Winston-Salem, NC with Elder K. Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Saturday at the Church.
