Willie H. "Popcorn" Sutton Jr., 69, passed away Friday December 15, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born September 1, 1948 in Winston-Salem, N.C. to Ernestine Stevenson and Willie H. Stevenson Sr. In 1977 he was married to Valencia Carpenter Sutton who has remained a true friend and stuck by his side.

He worked as an educator for 20+ years with the W-S Forsyth County School System, 10 years with Parks and Recreation summer program and was also a well-known and respected football and basketball coach.

He was preceded in death by his father Willie H. Stevenson Sr.; sister, Gwendolyn Sutton; grandmother, Katherine "Kat" Sutton; sister- in-law, Jean Stevenson; and brother-in-law, Willie Brantley.

He leaves to cherish his memories, mother Ernestine Stevenson; daughters, Ayonna Sutton-Chaplin (Chris Sr.), Dr.'s Lerah Cunningham (Derrick), Tiffani Carpenter (Sherman), and Dana Benton (Troy); one son, Brian Parrott; 13 grand kids; 9 great grand kids; 3 special god daughters; sister, Vickie B. Halls (David); his brother, Calvin Stevenson; 2 aunts; 3 uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close family friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Macedonia Worship Center with Pastor Andre D. Finkley officiating.  Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.  The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Saturday at the Church.
