Mr. Willie Crawford Johnson, Sr., 88, was born on August 18, 1935 in Winston-Salem, NC to Fred and MaeBelle Crawford.  He departed this life on Friday, September 22, 2023.

He was a graduate of Atkins High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System and was a member of St. James AME Church.

Mr. Johnson was a devoted husband and father.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Johnson; brothers, Albert Johnson Jerry Crawford, Perry Crawford, and Thomas Crawford; and his sister, Annie Lee Crawford.

He leaves behind one son, Willie Johnson, Jr.; three siblings to cherish dear memories, Mary Wilkins, Gwendolyn Crawford Roberts, and David Crawford; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including two special friends, Susan Davis and Gloria Boston.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Friday, October 6, 2023 at St. James AME Church. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1:00pm on Friday at the Church. Interment will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, October 11, 2023 in Salisbury National Cemetery.
