Willie Hairston Scales, 80, widow, mother, and grandmother, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Wake Forest University/ Baptist Medical Center. Willie was born December 10, 1930, in Walnut Cove, NC. Married for 59 years, Willie Scales' greatest achievement was always working hard to set a loving Christian example to her family, neighbors, friends and a loyal member of Morning Star Baptist Church Nurse's board which she served for many years.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Savannah; her father, Roosevelt Buck Hairston; and her beloved, husband Carlton E. Scales, Sr.
Mrs. Scales is survived by her children, Carlton, Jr., Patrice, Cassandra (Floyd) Neal, Darryl (Valerie), Albert (Felicia), and her granddaughter they helped raise, Chantelle (Wesley) Johnson; other wonderful grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 12noon Monday, February 7, 2011 at Morning Star Baptist Church with Reverend J.L. Montgomery officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Monday at the Church.
