Mr. Willie Suber Rodgers passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at his home on 2541 Rosemary Drive. He was born Jan. 19, 1910, in Jonesville, S.C. (Union County), to Junius and Janie Suber Rodgers. He resided in Winston-Salem for over 70 years and was the last of 11 children. He was a member of Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church for 59 years. He served as a deacon, head deacon, usher and Sabbath School teacher. He was a member of the Adventist Men' s Organization and a member of "The Young at Heart." He firmly embraced Christianity. Mr. Rodgers retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with 33 years of service. He was predeceased by his wife, Mrs. Sallie Hughes Rodgers. He leaves to cherish his memories his four devoted sons, Howard (Barbara), Joe (Shirley S.), Willie (Netty) and Emmanuel (Shirley B.); 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild; sisters-in-law Ernestine Rodgers of Jonesville, S.C., and Thelma Rodgers and Beulah Rodgers of Buffalo, N.Y.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, June 4, at Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church, with Pastor Moses Edwards Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, June 4, at the church.
