Obituary

Thursday morning, August 18, 2011 God sent his Angels to bring home, Willie Mae Smith Massey from "The Rough Side of The Mountain" to "Going Over Yonder".
Willie Mae was born May 19, 1928 the seventh and last child to the late Reverend Thomas Albert Smith and Mrs. Mary Armstrong Smith. She grew here in East Bend, NC and attended school in Yadkin County.
Willie Mae was a lifelong member of Benbow Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in East Bend, NC. She had served as a Sunday School Teacher, Missionary and Church Secretary. When her health declined she was serving as Preacher's Steward. She retired from Aramark Food Services at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC.
On June 9, 1984 Willie Mae married I.G. Massey who died in 1995. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and their spouses.
Willie Mae leaves to treasure her memory a dedicated daughter and son-in-law, Thomasine and Willie Malloy, Sr.; devoted granddaughter, Jennifer Malloy (Brandon Tomlinson); devoted grandsons, Willie Malloy, Jr. and Michael Adams; adoring great-granddaughter, Nylaja Tomlinson-Malloy; great-grandson, Michael Adams, Jr. all of Winston-Salem, NC; devoted niece, Mary Puryear; loving nieces, nephews, cousins; devoted nephew, Jerry (Paulette) Stimpson; and a host of other family relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 3pm Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at Benbow Chapel AME Zion Church with Reverend Joshcline Henry officiating. Interment will follow in the Benbow Chapel AME Zion Church Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 2pm until 3pm on Tuesday at the Church.
