Willie Lamont Lee was born January 27, 1970, to the late Betty Ann Lee and Willie Longmire in Brooklyn New York.
Willie graduated from Erasmus Hall High School; he then went to work for New York City Housing Authority as an assistant community center director. It was here Willie discovered his passion for taking care of people. After leaving NYCHA he went to work at Lifespire, where he took care of people with disabilities. In 2004, Willie joined Zion Baptist Church in August of 2006. Under the leadership of Pastor Marquette M. Peace, Willie became a part of the Men's ministry, Men's choir, and became a part of the Mime ministry.
It was here that his faith and his Love of people flourished. In 2014, Willie moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he joined New Psalmist Baptist Church, and he continued his walk with God as part of the Men's Choir and The Brotherhood Men's Ministry. In 2016, Willie started working with The League for People with Disabilities. Willie loved the participants he worked with and his co-workers. He strived to connect them with the God he loved so much.
With the help of a few co-workers, Willie started weekly bible study. Under his leadership several co-workers and participants accepted Christ into their lives.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Curtis Lee; one sister, Sonja Hall; and one nephew, Rahmel Coleman. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife Cheryl Lee; son, Xavier Lee; daughter, Maddison Lee; his step -daughters, Jazmine Lusk and Lashaunta Lusk; one grandson, Jaden Lusk that he raised as his own; his siblings, Vanessa Hamid and Sharon Lee of Manhattan, New York, Robert Lee, Nayshina Lee and Michael Lee all of Brooklyn, New York, and Anita Turnipseed of Oxon Hill, Maryland; near and dear to his heart, Mattie Hairston "Aunt Frankie;" and his niece, Candice Lee; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, brothers and sisters in Christ, and friends who will miss Willie dearly.
The viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday, October 27, 2023 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Evangelist Terri Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:00am on Friday at the Chapel.
