Willie Anthony Johnson 72, passed away peacefully Monday, January 31, 2011 at his home.
He was son of the late James S. Smith and Eron J. Smith and was born on January 18, 1939 in Winston-Salem, NC. Willie was a graduate of Atkins High School and was employed by the City of Winston-Salem Recreation Dept for 30 years, retiring in 1997.
He was preceded in death by his wife Yvonne Johnson.
He is survived by his sons, Willie A. Johnson (Penny) of Charlotte, NC, Semaj C.Johnson of Winston-Salem, NC, Derrick Fuqua of Anderson, SC and Anthony Johnson of Winston-Salem, NC; one daughter, Jackie C. Davis of Winston-Salem, NC; five grandsons; one granddaughter; three sisters, Delores Johnson, Madeline Lindsay, and Eyvonne Willis (Charles) all of Winston-Salem, NC; one brother, James H. Smith, Jr. (Kattie) of Summerfield, Michigan; three brothers-in-laws, Johnny Brown of Anderson, SC, James Brown, and Romeo Clayton both of Winston-Salem, NC; mother-in- law, Katie L. Brown of Anderson, SC; and a host of cousins, nephews & nieces and a devoted niece, Alisa Hatchett.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30am Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ron Dortch. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 11:30am on Saturday at the funeral home.
