Obituary

"To be absent from the body of Christ is to be present with the lord"

Willie Henry Gore, 69, also known as "Willie G", of Winston-Salem, NC went home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2018 peacefully at his residence.  He was born June 29, 1949 to the late John Wesley, Sr. and Mamie Gore.   Mr. Gore graduated from Paisley High School where he was well known as an Elite Varsity basketball player winning numerous accolades.   After high school, he attended Forsyth Technical Community College.  He then went on to work for R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company later retiring from the trucking division after 35 years of service.

In his early years he attended Kimberly Park Holiness Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School bus driver. He also was a member of the Usher Board and Sound Ministry. His passion was leading devotionals, praying, singing, and supplying sausage biscuits to those who attended the Sunday school classes.  Later he became a member of St. Peters World Outreach Center.  He continued to spread the good news of God's love while encouraging others at all times.

His hobbies included trumpet playing, dancing, listening to music, and cooking.  He often looked forward to traveling yearly to the bible study on the beach events.  "Willie G." was a comedian at heart and could always find a way to make people laugh during hard times.  He also enjoyed working out at the Winston Lake Family YMCA, and spending time with family.   Being one of the middle siblings of a large family, he found a way to remain unique throughout his life.

Mr. Gore was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley Gore, Sr. and Mamie Gore; first wife, Elaine Hardin Gore; and brothers, John Gore, Jr. and Joe Gore, Sr.

Those left behind to cherish his legacy include his wife, Kay Frances Gore; daughter, Kia (Pernell) Callahan; sons, Stephon (Jeannene) Gaddy, Sr. and Jovon Gore; step children, Kevin (Angela) Carter, Katrease (Robert) Gauer and Lititia Carter; his grandchildren, Landan Callahan, Trinity Callahan, Miata Carson, Stephon Gaddy, Jr., and Jayshaun Gore; great grand, Briata Carson; brothers, Clarence (Fannetta) Gore, David Gore, Bernard Gore, Donald (Mary) Gore, and Charles Gore; sisters, Verdie Morris, Iris (Talmadge) Alexander, and Pamela (Mark) Hall; and a host of other relatives and friends that will always keep his fondest memories in their hearts.
