Winston-Salem, NC - Willie Lee Bowman, Jr. was born on December 23, 1948 to Willie and Hattie Bowman. He departed this life March 11, 2009 at the Forsyth Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was a graduate of Atkins High School and served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Senior Usher Board.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Barbara Sutton.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Jones Bowman; a daughter, Lantangela (Tony) Williams; two sons, Michael Scales and Kendrick Jones; a mother-in-law, Willie Mae Witherspoon; four sisters, Phyllis Sutton, Deloris (Horacia) Bowen, Peggy (Dexter) Sullivan and Marquerita Bowman; three brothers, Anthony (Toni), Turner (Sharon) and Otis Bowman; seven grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Joann Patrick of Charlotte, NC, Patricia Witherspoon, and Cheryl Witherspoon of Winston-Salem, NC; two brothers-in-law, Marion Jones of Winston-Salem, NC and Larry Jones of Salisbury, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Homegoing services will be held at 12 Noon Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Dr. Charles E. Gray officiating. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. Family visitation will be held from 11:30 am until 12 Noon Wednesday at the church.
