Mr. Willie Austin, Jr., 60, of Winston-Salem, NC departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at J Paul Sticht Center. He was born January 15, 1949 to Mary Brown Austin and Willie Austin, Sr.
Willie attended the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools, Forsyth Technical Community College, Winston-Salem State University, and The Vintage Bible College. He was employed through the City of Winston-Salem Sanitation Department and Arby's before his health declined. He then volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
Willie is preceded in death by both parents and a brother, Samuel Austin.
He is survived by a son, Antonio Austin; three daughters, Monica Austin and Cartier Morrison of the home, and Ashley Bruton of New Jersey; three grandchildren, Tanazia Woods and Michael Whitney of the home, and Dai Ln Doster of New Jersey; one sister, Elizabeth Austin Johnson of High Point; three brothers, Johnny, James and Joseph Austin of Winston-Salem; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services will be held at 1 pm Monday, April 27, 2009 at New Light Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Sam Hickerson officiating. Family visitation will be held from 12 Noon until 1 pm Monday at the church.
