William "Billy" Witherspoon, 70, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at the Winston-Salem Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Billy was born on August 28, 1947 to the late George, Sr. and Lillie Witherspoon.  He graduated from Atkins High School in 1965. In 1975, he moved to Alaska before returning home in 1981.  Billy had been a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.  He worked for Lentz Transfer and Storage and also DJ'd at Club Silvers and Tony's.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George, Jr. (Butch) and Stanley; and sister, Georgia.

He is survived by his daughter, Renea Witherspoon; son, Chris (Kathy) Witherspoon; sister, Elizabeth Burgess; granddaughters, Olivia, Maya and Ella; two nieces; three aunts and a host of loving cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Mount Zion Baptist Church.  Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Thursday at the Church.
