Obituary

Mr. William Foy "Billy" Wade, 89, was born October 21, 1927 to William Frank and Elizabeth Foy Wade in Forsyth County, NC. He departed this life on Tuesday evening, January 10, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center.

A lifelong resident of Winston-Salem, NC, Mr. Wade attended the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County public schools, graduating from Atkins High School. He continued his education at Hampton Institute where he graduated.

Mr. Wade was the owner/operator of several service (gas) stations including Wade's Texaco, Wade's Gulf, and Wade's Amaco. The latter two were located at the corner of Patterson Ave. and NW Blvd. for more than 50 years.

Spiritually, he was a faithful member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where he served in various capacities including service as a trustee for over 50 years and member ship in the United Methodist Men and Sunday school.

In the community, he was a 50 plus year member of the Prince Hall Grand Lodge Free & Accepted Masons of NC & Jurisdictions, Inc. He was also a proud veteran of the US Army having served in WWII and in Korea.

In more recent years, "Billy Wade" as he was affectionately called, took great pleasure in helping the homeless community located near his stations. He was known to bring a bag of sandwiches and fruit to pass out to those in need almost daily. He was also known to take the shoes off his feet to give to someone without. In earlier years, Mr. Wade also encouraged the youth in the area to do their best and be their best by mentoring them and providing them jobs at his station.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Morece S. Wade; and his sister, Iris W. Officer.

He leaves to celebrate his life his daughter, Denise W. Warner and husband, Aaron "A.B." Warner of Rocky Mount, NC; grandchildren, Ashely B. (Marcus) Warner-Smith and Aaron "Brent" Warner both of W-S, NC; great-grandchildren, Austin B. Warner, Deja M. Smith, Andre B. Warner, and Ayden B. Warner; sister, Bettie W. Davis of Vineyard Haven, MA; nieces, Iris W. Davis, Caro Davis-Johnson, Phyllis I. Scott, and Dawn Meachum; nephews, Abdullah Nazeer and Edward Scott; cousins, Margie Howell and Larkin (Patricia) Horton; and many other church members and friends.
