Mr. William Hunter Vance, Jr. "Jimbo" departed this life on November 30, 2013. William was the oldest born to Fannie and William Vance, Sr. on August 16, 1932.

William "Jimbo" Vance, Jr. attended the local public schools and graduated from Atkins High School in 1952. He furthered his education at WSSU. He served in the US Army. He retired from RJR in 1987. He was inducted into the Atkins Hall of Fame in 2008.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Annie Harris; and brother, Edward Vance.

William is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara; daughters, Toni, his devoted caregiver, and Kerri; son, Bryan Vance; adopted son, Darryl Hunt (April); grandchildren, Monique, LeCole (Dunte'e), Bryan, Ashleigh, and Desi Sims, Jr.; great grandchildren, Timyia, LeKel, Kaden, and Loudyn; siblings, Betty, David, and Ira Vance; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Friday, December 6, 2013 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Paul A. Lowe, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Friday at the Chapel.
