Timothy 4:6-8: "For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand, I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."
Mr. William James Thompson, Sr. of 170 Jones Rd. was summoned from this side of Jordan to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 from the Forsyth Medical Center. William was born to William L. Thompson and Lucille T. Thompson August 17, 1943 in Eden, NC. He was a 1961 graduate of Douglas Senior High School of Eden. William was former employee of Hanes Dye and Finishing and R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. He retired from Hanes Brands Corp with 19 years of service.
William was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Phillip Thompson.
He leaves to cherish the memories three daughters, Elder Tonia Cain, Ms. Angela L. Teague, and Ms. Crystal N. Thompson of Winston-Salem, NC; three sons, Mr. Algefields (Infany) Cain of Detroit, Mich., Mr. William J. Thompson, Jr. of Winston-Salem, NC, Master Ethan Price of Mocksville, NC; one brother, Mr. Pete G. (Dorothy) Thompson of Winston-Salem, NC; two sisters, Ms. Lillie A. Watkins of Winston-Salem, NC and Mary E. Hairston of Eden, NC; 18 grandchildren, and two great grands, one God son and a devoted friend, Minister Casey Moore of Winston-Salem, NC.
Homegoing services will be held at 1 pm Thursday, September 11, 2008 at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. A.T. Griffey, III delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, NC. Family visitation will be held from 12 Noon until 1 pm Thursday the church.
