Obituary

William Cornell Taylor, a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, peacefully left this world on November 2, 2023, in his hometown of Winston-Salem, NC, at the age of 65. Born on January 21, 1958, in Columbia, SC, William exuded the warmth of a life well-lived. His motto, "Love the life you live and live the life you love," defined his outlook on life, inspiring others to embrace happiness and pursue their passions.

As the beloved son of Peter James Taylor and Simmie Love, William's journey began with the unwavering love and guidance of his parents. Although they have since departed, their enduring spirit and values continued to be his compass, guiding him through life's challenges with unshakable grace and determination.

In addition to his parents, William shared a special bond with his bonus father, William Love. Though not linked by blood, their unbreakable connection molded William's character and provided invaluable love and support which served an important role in his upbringing and throughout his life.

William graduated from East Forsyth High School, then made a noble commitment to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army and Reserves. Later, his career led him to become a dedicated truck driver for the City of Winston-Salem, where he found fulfillment in his work, a testament to his unwavering dedication.

William was blessed with a loving family, including his former spouse, Pamela Taylor, with whom he shared 27 years of marriage. Together, they raised three children: two sons, Dwane Stokes, Sr. and Michael Stokes; and one daughter, Mallory Taylor. The joy he found in his 11 grandchildren, Dwane, Deontae, Yanimiah, Makiyah, Damon, Mayonna, Jordyn, Carson, Taliah, Raelyn, and Carter, was immeasurable. Additionally, William also cherished four great-grandchildren who brought him immense happiness.

Pets also held a special place in William's heart, and he adored the fur family member, Pico. The bond between them brought warmth and comfort to his life, reminding him of the joys of companionship.

Family was the cornerstone of William's life, and his deep connection with his siblings sustained him through the years. While he grieved the loss of his sisters, Eartha Norman and Juanita Lane, the enduring bonds with his living siblings, Jesse Taylor, Amanda Archie (Floyd), Retta Edmond (Jerry), Etta Taylor, Sharon Taylor, Deborah Bryant (Brady), Crystal Holderman and sisters-in-law, Debra Stokes and Sheila Langford (Terrence) offered comfort, love, and shared memories that were an unbreakable source of strength.

In his spiritual journey, William was an active member of Gospel Light Baptist in Walkertown, NC. His love for the Lord was evident to all who knew him, and the Bible was a cherished book that he turned to for guidance and inspiration.
