In the late afternoon on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, Mr. William Lamon Moore, Sr., our quiet, gentle, loving and dearly beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed into eternal rest. We thank God for the blessing he was in all of our lives and will miss him in countless ways.
William (Billy) was born on December 3, 1936, in Forsyth County, North Carolina to Roy Moore and Ethel Price Moore.
He was a graduate of Carver High School Class of 1956 and received a degree in Business Administration from North Carolina A&T State University. A former member of Galilee Baptist Church, he served on the Board of Trustees and in the choir.
He leaves behind many friendships developed over his years of employment with Winston-Salem Mutual Life Insurance Company, Kate Bitting Reynolds Memorial Hospital and the Winston-Salem Housing Authority. Returning to his roots, he found great enjoyment in working the land and tending to animals, and never forgot those with whom he shared good conversation and laughter at the local Farmer's Market and along his "Saturday Route."
He devoted his life to loving and cherishing his family and was preceded in death by: his loving parents, Roy Moore and Ethel Price Moore; his sister, Bessie Adams and two brothers, Leroy Moore, Sr. and Donald Moore.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory: his brothers, James Moore (Mildred), Melvin Moore (Valonia) and Carl Moore; his children, William Lamon Moore, Jr. (Jenny), Rhonda Moore Baldwin and Kenneth Moore (Zulema); his grandchildren, Justin Baldwin, Gabrielle Moore and Jonathan Moore; a special great niece, Franchelle Pressley and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1:00pm on Tuesday at the Chapel.
