Mr. William Franklin Spencer, affectionately known to family and friends as "Billy" departed this life on Thursday, September 22,2022 at home. William was born March 12, 1940 to the late Charlie T. and Mollie Spencer in Lilesville, NC.
Billy was educated in Lilesville, NC. He moved to Winston-Salem, NC in the late 60's where he retired from Roadway Express, he then became an active member of Salem Lodge 139 as a Mason where he received his 33 rd degree. Billy was a sponsor for a number of years where he helped to rehabilitate prisoners with his great wisdom.
Billy loved the Lord and in his spare time he would let you know how good the Lord was to him and reciting Shakespeare poems, he also had a passion for fishing, joking and spending time with family and friends.
A hero to many with a heart of gold and giving not to just family but to anyone that crosses his path.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie T. Spencer and Mollie Spencer; and his daughter, Denna Spencer.
The following family members left to cherish his memories as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend are his devoted wife, Roberta Spencer of 61 years; children, Cornelius (Lucia) Spencer, and Yvette (Steve) Brown; grandchildren, La'toya (Cory) Genus, Christien Spencer, Brittany (Jarrell) Meadows, De'Andre Spencer and Ta'Nia Brown; great-grandchildren, Aden, Jayceon, Lay'Ah, Core', Kori, and Kendall; siblings, Georgia Adams, James T. Spencer (Twin) and Charlie Lackey; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Cornerstone of Faith Ministries, 2430 Farrington Point Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27107, with Bishop Grosjean L. Stephens officiating. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Thursday at the Church.
