Mr. William Henry McCullough went to be with the Lord on June 18, 2014 at the Novant Hospice and Palliative Care Center at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.
He was born to the late Elder J.W. McCullough and Velma B. McCullough who preceded him in death in addition to his younger brother, Jimmy. William was the oldest of five children.
His parents moved to Detroit, MI 3 days after his birth. Winston-Salem was his birth place, but Detroit was his home where he received his schooling at North Western High School.
He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1961 and served for 6 years where he was stationed in Lake Champlain. He played the clarinet and alto saxophone in the Military Navy Band. After he returned from the Navy, he attended Wayne State College in Michigan. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in Michigan and was employed at RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company in Winston-Salem, NC.
William returned back to his birth place in 1986 where he met and married Peggy McCullough.
He joined New Bethel Baptist Church and was baptized under the leadership of Dr. Jerry Drayton. At New Bethel he was a member of Sunday school Class #1, the Spiritual Choir, the Laymen's, and sung briefly with the Communion Singers.
Mr. McCullough leaves to cherish his memory his loving, devoted wife and caretaker, Peggy McCullough of the home; one son, Barry Sanford McCullough of Beverly Hills, CA; three grandchildren, NeKiesha Daniell McCullough, Kira McCullough, and Hudsen McCullough also of Beverly Hills, CA; two sisters, Barbara (Garner) Bailey and Brenda (Wayne) Mitchell; one brother, Curtis (Sandra) McCullough all of the city; and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11am Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at New Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Kendall Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. The family visitation will be held from 6pm until 7pm on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.
