He attended Atkins High School.

William was an employee of R.J.R. tobacco for 34 years. He retired in 1992.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters; 2 brothers; and 1 son, Marvin Lindsay.

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Joanne Lindsay; his children, William Lindsay (Lanorma), Greg Lindsay (Teaquoise); daughter, Karen Lindsay, daughter-in-law, Kawana Lindsay; mother-in-law, Mable Glenn; 1 brother, Carl Lindsay (Lola); 9 grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-laws; 3 brothers-in-law; cousins, Lewis and Leslie Watts; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Serenus T. Churn, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:45am until 12:30pm on Wednesday at the Church.
