William "Bill" Monroe Bowman, Jr., affectionately known as "Bo", was born on May 29, 1962, in Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina, to the late Constance Lowery Bowman and William Bowman, Sr. He peacefully transitioned from this life on February 16, 2025.
Bill was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and proudly graduated from East Forsyth High School in June 1980. He continued his education at North Carolina Central University, where he pursued studies in Business Administration.
From a very young age, Bill was a devoted member of Middle Fork Christian Church, where he joyfully participated in Sunday School and sang in the youth choir. His early life was rooted in faith, community, and service.
Bill's vibrant spirit and larger-than-life personality were matched by his unwavering dedication to the Washington Commanders (formerly the Washington Redskins). His passion for his favorite NFL team was evident through his avid support, joyful debates, and team colors proudly displayed wherever he went. His enthusiasm for football and his beloved Commanders brought laughter and camaraderie among family and friends. Bill also had a lifelong passion for Mustangs, reflecting his deep appreciation for classic American muscle cars.
During his courageous 15-month battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, Bill was blessed with the unwavering companionship and support of dear friends including, Reginald Torrence—who was by his side every single day—Chad Simmons, Mike Peoples, Terrance (Boo) Mitchell, Walter Hairston, Jr., and a host of many others whose daily presence and genuine care greatly enriched his life. Lorenza Wolford was also a special mentor and trusted figure in Bill's life, someone he respected deeply, whose bond originated from the close friendship Lorenza shared with Bill's father.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Luetta Bowman and Ralph and Thelma Mae Lowery; sister, Latanya Yvette Bowman; cousins, Darryl Belton and Eugene Belton, Jr.; aunts, Jacqueline Belton, Debra Lowery, and Pauline Bowman-Williams; uncles, Eugene Belton, Sr., Ralph Lowery, and Aaron (Rex) Bowman; and his dog nephew, Handsome Daquan Bark Bowman VIII, whom he referred to as "Snoop."
He leaves cherished memories with his son, William Monroe Bowman III "Trey"; sister, Dalnice Bowman; niece, Emerald P. Bowman; great-niece, Harmony Bowman; cousins, Tracy (Devon) Glover, Carter Glover, Serena Belton, Eugene (Geno) Belton III, Nichelle Belton, Brent Belton, Chloe Belton, Cory (Kandi) Belton, Jania Mackey, Jamia Mackey, Shauntaye Mackey, Joemell Bass, Patricia Robinson, Shanita Robinson, Jordyn James, Jayden James, Clifton (Bubba) Graves, Cathy Graves, Donna Graves, and Eddie Graves; extended family, The Wolford Family; the Brushy Fork Community; and a host of other cousins, relatives, and lifelong friends.
Bill's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Memorial services will be held at 12noon Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Middle Fork Christian Church.
