IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Frederick
Hyman, I
January 25, 2024
The Life
of
William "Fred" Hyman, I
William Frederick Hyman, known as "Fred" by most and G-Pa by all who loved him, was born on July 10, 1939, to the union of James L. Hyman and Bessie Grier Hyman.
Fred went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, January 25, 2024. He graduated from Carver High School, class of 1959 and went on to enlist and serve in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged and began a 30-year career with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, earning the position of chief mechanic. Fred united with Middlefork Christian church at an early age. He later became a member of Christ Kingdom Building Worship Center (formerly known as Spencer Memorial), where he served faithfully as an Elder and Deacon for many years.
Fred was an active member of Olympic Lodge #795 and Past Potentate of Sethos Temple #170. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Jeanette Brooks Hyman; his parents; and his three brothers, Richard H. Hyman, James H. Hyman and Cleo C. Hyman.
Fred leaves behind a host of family members and friends to cherish funny, loving, never-to-be-forgotten memories: his son and namesake, William "Bill" Hyman, II (Colleen), of the home; daughter Jerrylyn Hyman-Green, of Concord, NC and spiritual daughter Dana Benton, of Winston-Salem, NC; grandsons, Brandon Patton, Jonathan Green and Solomon Benton; granddaughters, Whitney Hyman, Troi Benton, Jasmine Gambrell, Sydney Green, Mikayla Cannon; great-grandson, Rex Howie; great-granddaughters, Meghan Kelly and Ziya Howie; sisters, Helen Slade (Jimmie), Bertha Hymes; sisters-in-law, Shirley Hyman Carter (Thurmond) and Artenia Boyce; an attentive niece (nephew-in-law), Alison Westbrook (Michael); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition, we would be remiss, if we did not mention Edward Fulmore, a devoted and loving 'adopted' son of the family, who served 'G-Pa' tirelessly during his illness.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Goler Memorial AME Zion Church. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Saturday at the Church. Interment will be held at 9:00am Tuesday, February 6, 2024 in Salisbury National Cemetery.
