Hartford, CT - Mr. William Roger Hunt, Esq., also known as "Billy," was born November 19, 1931 in Winston-Salem, NC to Jarvis Sylvester Hunt and Bessie Barker Hunt. He passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, September 17, 2009 at Saint Francis Hospital.

Billy grew up in Winston Salem, North Carolina where he attended the local public schools. At an early age, he had a love for jazz, playing the piano, tennis, golf and was an avid reader. He was on the Tennis and Basketball teams while attending college. Billy graduated from Palmer Memorial Institute High School, Sedalia, NC, and attended Talladega College, Talladega, AL, and received his BS degree from Winston-Salem State University, Winston-Salem, NC. He later received his Juris Doctorate Degree from the University Of Connecticut School Of Law, West Hartford, CT. He practiced Law in Connecticut and Pennsylvania, and served many years teaching at the University Of Connecticut School Of Law, West Hartford, CT, Hartford Public High School, Hartford, CT and the New Haven Public Schools, New Haven, CT. Billy was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and served 7 years in the United States Army and Marines.

Billy was a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, Teacher Bureau of Indian Affairs, and was listed in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities.

While attending Winston-Salem State University, he met his wife Carol Jean Lowdermilk. They later moved to Connecticut to raise a family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol; brothers, Richard Hunt, Bronal Lewis Hunt, Robert Leander Hunt; and son William R. Hunt "Billy", Jr.

He is survived by one sister, Jacqueline Hunt-Nunn, of Winston-Salem, NC; daughters, Jennifer M. Hunt, Janine C. Childs, of Atlanta, GA, Leandra Strickland and Kimberly Hunt-Hudson; sons, Johnathan T. Hunt, Jeffrey S. Hunt, Matthew Hunt and Billy Hunt; twelve grandchildren, Robert Knighton, Jr., Kevin L. Wilkinson, Jr., Justin Hunt, Leah Hawles, Jashaun Hunt, Brittney Hudson, Kori L. Wilkinson, James Hunt, Jeffrey Hunt, Jr., Lilly Hunt, Karli C. Wilkinson and Sean Hunt; three sisters-in-law; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00AM Friday, September 25, 2009 from the Henry L. Fuqua Funeral Service, 94 Gramby Street, Bloomfield, CT. Interment will follow in Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 9:00AM until 10:00AM on Friday at the funeral home.
