Mr. William Edward "Babe" Conrad passed away on Sunday evening, December 12, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center.
"Babe" was born on August 7, 1941 in Tobaccoville, NC to the late William A. and Dorothy H. Conrad.
He graduated from Atkins High School Class of 1961. He was an avid bowler and a member of the Piedmont Bowling Association.
"Babe" was a member of the New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a photographer and a member of the Helps Ministry (Church Security).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William E. Conrad, Jr.
Loving memories will be cherished by his wife of 49 years, Mary Smith Conrad; two sons, Roderick Conrad, Sr. and Tim Wilks; five grandchildren, Tennille, Darren, James, Roderick, Jr., and Sharonda; four great grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, Katrina L. Smith, Patrina S. Hicks, Beatrice S. Oliver all of the city, Ollie M. Smith of Marlboro, MD, and Joyce S. Fulton (Ralph) of Durham, NC; one brother-in-law, Alexander Smith; a very devoted cousin who was like a brother, Hubert (Ericsteen) Lash; a caring cousin, Rachel Sheff; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Friday, December 17, 2010 from New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Samuel J. Cornelius officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1:00pm on Friday at the church.
