Mrs. Willer Mae Johnson, 67, loving wife of Jacob Johnson and daughter of the late Charles and Caroline Williams passed on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Wake Forest University/Baptist Medical Center.
She was born in Hemingway, SC and relocated to Winston-Salem, NC. She graduated from Paisley High School and continued her education at Monroe Business College in New York. Mrs. Johnson worked for Sears and Salem Co. She retired as a seamstress from Lucia.
She was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church on Manley Street where she served faithfully on the Nurses Board and as a Deaconess.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Jacob Johnson; three sisters, Floreatha Cooper, Hattie Jones, and Gloria (Cecil) Gatling; step-daughters, Barbara Johnson, Edith Johnson, Sandra (Cedric) Branch, Cynthia (Bruce) Banks, Tonya Johnson, and Regina Johnson; step-sons, Bernard Johnson, Cliff Johnson, and Jacob Johnson, Jr.; fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Friday, September 17, 2010 at St. Mark Baptist Church 1100 Manley Street Winston-Salem, NC 27105 with Reverend Dr. James Fulwood officiating. Entombment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Friday at the Church.
