Ms. Wilhelmina Anderson Burks, 69, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born Sept. 18, 1938, in Mecklenburg County to Calvin and Maggie Anderson. She was a U.S. Air Force veteran. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara J. Evans; and her brother, Otis Anderson. Ms. Burks is survived by a daughter, Letaunya R. Toomer; devoted granddaughters, Shanna Burks and Sheree Burks; two brothers, Edda C. Anderson and Jimmie Anderson; niece, Charleator (Carl) Cox; and a host of other nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Mount Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Charles E. Gray officiating. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury. Family visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until noon on Tuesday at the church. The family will receive friends all other times at the home of her granddaughter, Sheree Burks, 417 W. 24th St., Winston-Salem.
