Wayne Michael Watkins, 71, affectionately known as "Fuzzy" departed this life on August 10, 2016. Wayne was born November 6, 1944 to Albert and Hessie Watkins in Rockingham, NC.

He was a resident of Pine Hall, NC. He loved fishing and hunting. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Vietnam War. He retired from AT&T after 30 years of service.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; and a granddaughter, Mia Whitehead.

He is survived by two daughters, Patricia Whitehead (Mikie Norman) of Woodberry, NJ and Bernetha "Bonita" (James) Nixon of Monroe, NC; three grandchildren, Eric, Brandi, and Kayla Witherspoon, all of Charlotte, NC; three siblings, Charles Watkins, Betty Watkins of Walkertown, NC, and Stevie Watkins; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:00am on Tuesday at the Chapel.
