Wayne Anthony Fries, aka "Frenchy", was born on November 24, 1960 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to the late Elmo and Eva Mae Fries. He departed this life on May 7, 2019 at Novant Rehabilitation Center to rest with his Heavenly Father.  He was surrounded by loving family and caregivers during his final moments.

Wayne received his formal education at Parkland High School and was a devoted employee at Sonoco Recycling for many years.  In 1986, he welcomed his cherished daughter into the world, LaShanda Renea Fries. As an avid sports fan, he also played softball in his younger years.  Wayne had a passion for traveling and participated in annual cruise trips with his close loved ones. He lived life to the fullest, enjoying the simple pleasures of dining out with friends, chatting with neighbors and spending time with family.

Family and friends will remember Wayne Fries for his jovial spirit and God-given gift of bringing laughter to everyone he encountered.

In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by three brothers, Earl, Dennis and Nate Fries.

Wayne leaves to cherish his memory his loving daughter, LaShanda (Silas) Pressley of Winston-Salem, NC; three sisters, Cathy Fries of Chester, VA, Arlene and Sophia Fries both of Winston-Salem, NC; three brothers, Glenn Fries of Newport, VA, Ronald and Christopher Fries both of Winston-Salem, NC; one sister-in-law, Julia Fries; two aunts, Wilma Fries and Francine Smith; life-long friend, Elizabeth Burgess; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at St. Matthew Apostolic Temple.  Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.  The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 12:30pm on Tuesday at the Church.
