Reverend WanEtta Harris Belle was born on August 30, 1937 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Frank B. Harris and Eva Mae Woods Harris. She transitioned peacefully at her home surrounded by family and friends on July 28, 2021.
She was educated in the local public schools of Winston-Salem, NC, attended Livingstone College and The Hood Theological Seminary of Salisbury, NC, and Shaw University of Raleigh, NC. She was employed at Western Electric (Lucent Technologies).
Reverend Belle held Senior Pastoral Charges at Smith Grove AME Zion-Advance, NC, Elmwood AME Zion and Haywood-Pineville AME Zion-Statesville, NC, St. John AME Zion-Bethlehem, PA, and St. Paul AME Zion-Media, PA. Also she was the Associate Minister at Goler Metropolitan AME Zion-Winston-Salem, NC, Emmanuel AME Zion-Stone Mountain, GA, and Bethania AME Zion- Rural Hall, NC. Reverend Belle was a member of the Women's Home and Overseas Missionary Society of Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She held numerous awards and achievements.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel Belle; and brother, Carl Harris.
Left to cherish her memories and continue her legacy are her children, Cecelia Harris (James) Jeffries, Eva Belle (Billy) Haynes, and Karl E. (Felicia) Belle; grandchildren, Abra Haynes, Christopher Jeffries, Jonathan Jeffries, William Haynes, Kendra Belle Prince, and LaTrenda Belle; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Arnethia Harris Coplin, Audrey Harris (Jerry) Wilkins, Deborah Harris Jackson, and a sister of the heart, Dorothy Moton; sister-in-law, Diane Harris; special friends, Mr. Leon Coleman, Rev. & Mrs. Ashford Champagne, and Rev. Pamela Cummings; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 6:00pm Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home. Private services will be held Wednesday, August 4, 2021. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Women's Home and Overseas Missionary Society of Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church, Winston-Salem, NC.
