Evangelist Wanda M. Williams, 61, departed this life on May 21, 2014 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born in Winston-Salem on January 5, 1953 to the late David E. Matthews and Mrs. Marie A. Matthews.
She graduated from Atkins High School (1970), High Point University (BS), and Pfeiffer University (MS). She was a member of Ministry of Fullness Word of Faith, Inc. where she served on the Usher Board and the choir. Ms. Williams worked at R. J. Reynolds for 18 years and was currently employed at Rock Tenn.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by two daughters, Sha-Lai L. Williams of Maplewood, MO, and Johnai W. Myers (Chris Jr.) of Rural Hall, NC; seven grandchildren, Ja'Cora Myers, Chris Myers III, Donta Myers, Elishya Myers, and Elijah Myers, all of Rural Hall, NC, Parker Williams of Maplewood, MO, and Trinity Henderson of Charlotte, NC; one sister, Cassaundra El-Amin (Fleming) of W-S, NC; three nephews, Fleming El-Amin of Laurel, MD, Abraham El-Amin of Raleigh, NC, and Matthew El-Amin of W-S, NC; two nieces, Salimah El-Amin of Raleigh, NC, and Jameelah Hayes (Derrick) of Laurel, MD; aunt, Mrs. Catherine Clark of Ansonville, NC; special friends, Yolanda Anderson and a Circle of Friends; and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, family, and friends. She will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church with Apostle Olivia Allen officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11am until 12noon on Tuesday at the Church.
