In Loving Memory of Waltranette McGriff Talbert
January 28, 1950 – May 7, 2025
A Life of Grace, Generosity, and Love
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Waltranette McGriff Talbert, affectionately known to many as "Lil Bit"—a beloved daughter, life partner, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend—who departed this life on May 7, 2025, after a life beautifully lived and generously shared.
Waltranette was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Clark and Mary Broome McGriff; whose strength and devotion shaped her into the remarkable woman she was.
She shared a loving and devoted bond with her husband and life partner of 47 years, Bobby Williams, whose constant presence was a source of strength and joy.
She was the proud and loving mother of Waltreece Carrethers-Maragh (Caron) of Fort Worth, Texas and Michael Talbert (Casey) of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Her nurturing spirit continues through her granddaughter, Crystal Lowery; and her four beloved great-grandchildren, Elijah Galloway, Dallas Stubbs, Winter Stubbs, and Autumn Stubbs who were each a treasured part of her heart. Waltranette is also survived by her two devoted brothers, Willie H. McGriff (Mary) of Cincinnati, Ohio and Clarke L. McGriff (Susan) of Columbia, South Carolina, who will forever hold her memory close.
A lifelong resident of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Waltranette was a proud graduate of Atkins High School and Forsyth Technical Community College, where she prepared for a life of service. She worked faithfully in the nursing field for 35 years, offering care, compassion, and comfort to all those placed in her hands. Her career was not just a job—it was an extension of the love and kindness she gave so freely.
Known for her quiet strength and boundless heart, "Lil Bit" touched the lives of many. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and additional bonus grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Her presence brought peace, her words brought encouragement, her love brought light to every room she entered and a legacy of compassion, resilience, and deep, enduring love.
"She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue… Her children arise and call her blessed." — Proverbs 31:25–26, 28
Forever in our hearts, Waltranette "Lil Bit" Talbert's love will never fade.
