Mrs. Virginia "Ginny" McDuffie, formerly of Elizabethtown, NC went home to glory on Monday, October 24, 2011 at Springwood Care Center in Winston-Salem, NC. She was born November 25, 1919 in Wagram, NC to John and Bessie Covington.
Mrs. McDuffie was a retired cosmetologist/business owner of 35 years. She loved to garden, especially vegetables and flowers. She also loved to cook and was a collector of cookbooks and recipes. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Elizabethtown for over 30 years where she served on the Senior Choir, as a teacher, served on the Pastor's Aid Ministry and attended Sunday school regularly until her health began to decline. She was also a proud and dedicated member of the Elizabethtown Chapter of the Entre Nous Beautician's Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Percy McDuffie; two sisters, Willie Mae McRae and Massie Covington; and one brother, John "Pet" Covington.
Surviving is her dedicated and loving daughter, Sherry Ramsey and husband, Steve of Kernersville, NC; two grandchildren, Stefanie Ramsey and Steven Ramsey, Jr. of Kernersville, NC; one great-granddaughter, Symone Ramsey-Phillips of Kernersville, NC; one brother-in-law, Wilbert Lee McDuffie of Clarkton, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30am Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Providence Baptist Church, 319 Nelson St. Kernersville, NC with Dr. Michael Walton officiating. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 11:30am on Saturday at the Church.
