Obituary

"For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course and I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness. II Timothy 4:6-8"
On Tuesday morning, June 3, 2009 our beloved Victor Denard McClary, also known as "Slater", went home to glory to be with our Lord after a long period of illness. He was born February 14, 1986 in Winston-Salem, NC to Sterling Michelle Roseboro and Victor Clayton McClary.
He attended Atkins Middle and East Forsyth High School. He was raised in Emmanuel Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Dr. John Mendez and attended Steadfast Life Changing Ministries.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Clarence and Joann Roseboro; paternal grandmother, Doris McClary; and great-grandmother, Viola M. Thomas.
Victor leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Sterling (Jimmie) Lloyd, his father, Victor C. McClary; one brother, Tony Roseboro, Sr.; one sister, Fallon Roseboro; one nephew, Tony Roseboro, Jr.; a cousin, Jade Miller; uncles, Pastor Aldine (Sandra) Ingram, Jr., Darryl Miller, John (Debra) Thomas, Harold (Joyce) Thomas, William McClary, and Kenneth (Velma) McClary of Winston-Salem, NC, Keith (Michelle) Thomas, Reginald and Kenneth Hauser of Baltimore, MD, Michael and Darryl McClary of Goldsboro, NC; aunts, Pamela Hairston and Winifred Hauser of Winston-Salem, NC, Sandra (Tucker) Gilliam of Baltimore, MD, and Nikki McClary of Goldsboro, NC; and a list of devoted family and friends.
Homegoing services will be held at 1pm June 9, 2009 from the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Aldine Ingram, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family would like to express special thanks to the Wake Forest University/Baptist Medical Center Ninth Ward Staff, Brenner Children's Hospital staff, Forsyth Medical Center TICU unit, Make A Wish/Sickle Cell Foundation, Kate B. Reynolds Hospice and Palliative Care staff, and the members of Steadfast Life Changing Ministries Inc.
