Veronica Eunita Black "Tanya", was born to the late Gladys Black and Hiawatha Black in Charlotte, NC. At an early age she moved to Brooklyn, NY.  She departed this earthly life, Thursday, December 16, 2021.

She attended the New York public school system and worked for the New York Mass Transit Authority for almost 25 years. She was a lover of music and played bass guitar in the band "On Point"  in New York. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with them.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Her beloved son, Eric (Jackie) Black; beloved daughter, Erica (Marcus) Vaughan; her beloved niece that she raised, Aisha Epps and her daughter Aliyah Bourne; two grandsons, Natrel (Miah) Black and Diante Black; two great grandchildren, Nahla and Sage Black; a sister, Denise Wylie; three brothers, Anthony Black, Eric Black, and Vincent Allen; her life partner, Anthony Vaughan; and a host of special friends.

There will be no public viewing.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00pm Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be live streamed on the Russell Funeral Home Facebook page beginning at 3:00pm Thursday.
