Velma Jeter Dunlap, affectionately called "Sweet Baby", was the daughter of Arthur and Ruth Jeter.  Velma was born on June 27, 1941 in Winston-Salem, NC.  She departed this life on November 8, 2024 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist.

She graduated from Allen High School in Asheville, NC and she also attended Winston-Salem State University. Velma worked for Hanes, Thomasville Furniture Company, and Forsyth Medical Center before she became ill.

She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church where she served on the usher board.  Her favorite pastimes were fashions, westerns, and football.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Tammi Dunlap; one sister, Gwendolyn Jeter; and her brother, Carlton Jeter.

She leaves to cherish her memories three daughters, Trina Dunlap of Kansas City, KS, Tonja and Terri Dunlap of Winston-Salem, NC; two grandchildren, Jamal Dunlap of W-S, NC and Rae Mathis of Kansas City, KS; one sister, Rovena Jeter of Upper Marlboro, MD; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends including special friends, Gloria Boston, Betty Hamilton, and Barbara Moyer.

Memorial services will be held at 2:30pm Monday, November 18, 2024 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.  The family visitation will be held from 2:00pm until 2:30pm on Monday at the Chapel.
