Velma Mae Dulin was born in Davie County on December 4, 1932 to the late Brack A. and Connie Ridley Dulin. She was the second born of her twin sister, Thelma H. Carpenter.
She was educated at the North Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind in Raleigh, North Carolina. Following graduation she returned to the City of Winston-Salem, NC. Later in life, she was employed by Marion Lewis at Castle Heights Tot Haven on New Walkertown Road, Winston-Salem, NC.
She was baptized at a very young age and was added to the Church of Christ, where she remained a faithful member of the North Patterson Avenue Church of Christ until her health began to fail. She enjoyed helping her "second parents", the late Willie J. and Blanch Hall with yard work, canning, crocheting and nurturing all the neighborhood children.
Ms. Dulin departed this life on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Abbott's Creek Rehabilitation Center. She leaves to cherish her memories her devoted daughter, Patricia D. Norris (Robert) of Winston-Salem, NC; her son, Larry K. Dulin (Signa) of Atlanta, GA; her twin sister, Thelma H. Carpenter (Ollie); five grandchildren, Rodney Hughes (Kim), Felicia Hughes, Torez Hughes, Shawn Dulin (Robin) and Jimel Johnson; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at Noon, Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Carver Road Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
