On Tuesday, September 15, 2020, God's heavenly angels came down to claim one of his own. Vaul Melvin Martin Sr. was born to the late Reginald Martin and Thelma Hairston Dalton on August 22, 1944. He received his education in Stokes County schools and then went on to Rockingham Community College. He retired from Sears & Roebuck Co. after 30 years of service, and then retired from Nubreed Leasing Company after 13 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mrs. Carlotta M. Martin; son, Mr. Vaul Melvin Martin, Jr.; special "kiddo", Mr. Cordey Lash; daughter, Mrs. Angel Martin Rigsby (Shelby); special "kiddo", Chevalier Levasa (Ted); brother, Reginald Martin, Jr.; sisters, Shirley Mitchell and Teresa Richardson(Charles); sisters-in-law, Janet Carroll and Glenda M. Gambill (Richard); and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was a very devoted and loving husband, patient and virtuous father, and an inspiration to all who knew and worked with him. He was a man whose character was illuminated by leadership, honesty, and generosity. His legacy of investing in the betterment of others and loving his family will be treasured for generations.
Whether you knew him as "Spark," "Unc," "Spicer," or Vaul, you could depend on him when he was needed. He was always willing to roll up his sleeves and "Get it Done, Baby"! For those of you who didn't know, he was an avid country music fan!
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Sunday, September 20, 2020 at Russell Funeral Home. Private services will be held Monday, September 21, 2020. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, NC.
