Vassie Taylor passed away Friday, December 21, 2007 at home after a lengthy illness. She was born February 26, 1923 in Winston-Salem , NC to Charlie Turner and Elmonia Lyons.

Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by parents, her husband, Ernest D. Taylor and her third son, Gregory A. Taylor.

A loving mother, Vassie is survived by three sons, Charles, Ron, and Darryl; four grandsons, Jabre, Kris, Telvin, and Darryl, Jr.; three great-grand children, Joshua, Deja, and Dylan; a sister, Theresa Rowls; two brothers, Garland and Cedric Gill; daughters-in-law, Joyce and Nannette Taylor; a niece, Mildred Hines of Philadelphia, PA; a special and devoted friend, Deborah Holmes; and a multitude of nieces and nephews, along with a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Saturday, December 29, 2007 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery . Family visitation will be held from 12 noon until 1 pm Saturday at the church.
