Obituary
Mrs. Vanessa Johnson Dees was born on September 28, 1952 in Washington, DC at Walter Reed Hospital. She passed away on September 14, 2007 at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her father, Elvin Johnson; and one brother, John Henry Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Harvey Dees; a daughter, Rhonda Dempsey; her mother, Louise Johnson of Seat Pleasant, MD; two brothers, Rufus and Elvin J. Johnson; three granddaughters, Donnae, Kaylah, and Kamryn Dempsey grandsons, D'Anthoni Johnson, Matthew and Dayvid Dempsey; her son-in-law, Raymond Dempsey; four sisters-in-law, Felicia, Mary, Fern, and Brenda; a brother-in-law, Alphonso Gaydon; two step daughters, Rosalyn and Michelle; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday, September 22, 2007 from the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 10am until 11 am on Saturday at the Chapel.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to her niece, Stacy Sutton who loved and helped care for Mrs. Dees over the past year.
