Obituary

Vandalia Wood McAdoo passed peacefully on Friday, January 22, 2016. She was born on December 8, 1918 to the late Mabson and Louretta Wood in Fayetteville, NC.

She was a graduate of E.E. Smith High School and Fayetteville State University where she received her bachelor's degree in elementary education and was an all-star basketball player. She was also inducted into FSU's Basketball Hall of Fame. She received her Master's degree from Columbia University. She taught in the following school systems collectively for 37 years: Moore County, Johnston County, Fayetteville and Greensboro City Schools. After retiring in 1978, she continued her education at A&T State University, majoring in music.

She met her husband, Robert Allen McAdoo, Sr. while teaching in Smithfield where he was teaching at Johnston County Training School. To this union were born a son and a daughter.

To mourn her loss are her son, Robert Allen McAdoo Jr. (Patrizia); daughter, Pamela McAdoo Cameron (Jasper); seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Homegoing services will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Metropolitan United Methodist Church with Reverend Diron Chloe officiating. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Wednesday at the Church.
